Craftsmanship Built on Reputation

Coverite Upholstery was founded by Andrew Gowing in 1988 with one simple aim: to provide exceptional upholstery without ever compromising on quality.

Nearly four decades later, that philosophy remains exactly the same.

Andrew has never believed in taking shortcuts or choosing cheaper materials simply to win work. Every commission is approached with honesty, care and a genuine respect for the craftsmanship that quality upholstery demands.

The business has grown steadily through recommendations, repeat customers and the trust of people who know their treasured furniture, vehicles and boats will be treated with the same care Andrew would expect himself.

A Personal Approach

Every piece that leaves the workshop carries the Coverite name.

That means every stitch, every repair and every finished detail reflects the standards Andrew has spent decades building.

Whether restoring an heirloom armchair, creating a bespoke upholstered headboard or transforming an entire vehicle interior, the same principles apply:

Traditional craftsmanship

Carefully selected materials

Attention to detail

Work completed properly

Every project begins with a conversation.

Some customers visit the workshop with a favourite chair that has been in the family for generations. Others arrive with a classic car, a campervan preparing for its next adventure or a yacht ready for refurbishment.

Andrew enjoys understanding not only what needs to be done, but why it matters.

By taking the time to listen, he can recommend the most suitable materials, techniques and finishes for each individual commission.

No two projects are ever exactly the same, and that is exactly how he believes it should be.

Craftsmanship Without Compromise

Built on Strong Foundations

Before establishing Coverite Upholstery in 1988, Andrew trained in traditional upholstery techniques, developing the craftsmanship and attention to detail that continue to define his work today.

Those early foundations, combined with decades of hands-on experience, have shaped a reputation built on quality, honesty and work completed without compromise.

While materials, styles and customer expectations have evolved over the years, Andrew's approach has remained remarkably consistent: every commission deserves the same care, whether it is a family armchair, a classic car, a yacht interior or a bespoke upholstery project.

Looking Ahead

Although Coverite Upholstery has been serving customers since 1988, Andrew believes every new commission is an opportunity to earn that reputation again.

The workshop continues to welcome customers from across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk, combining traditional upholstery skills with honest advice and a genuine passion for creating work that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Because while styles may change, one belief never has:

Some things are worth restoring.

Some things are worth preserving.

Everything is worth doing properly.
